Origin Story
According to legend, the Ruyi Jingu Bang was originally a pillar used by the ancient sea god, Yu the Great, to measure the depth of the Great Flood. It was kept in the underwater palace of the Dragon King of the Eastern Sea.
Sun Wukong retrieves the staff after being told by the Dragon King that he should find a weapon that suits him. When he sees the Ruyi Jingu Bang, he immediately knows it's perfect for him and claims it as his own.
Size Manipulation: The staff can change its size at will, from as large as a mountain to as small as a needle, making it easy for Sun Wukong to carry it behind his ear when not in use.
Weight: Despite its size-changing abilities, the staff is incredibly heavy, weighing about 13,500 pounds (6,750 kg), which only Sun Wukong has the strength to wield effectively.
Indestructibility: The staff is virtually indestructible and can withstand any attack, making it a formidable weapon in battle.
